All about Cedarwood

🌿Cedarwood essential oil is distilled from the bark of the Cedrus Atlantica Tree, commonly called Atlas Cedar
🌿The Atlas Cedar species is very closely related to the Lebanon Cedar mention in the Bible
🌿Atlas Cedar is an evergreen conifer native to the Atlas Mountains in northern Africa
🌿The word for cedar was used figuratively for “immortality” by the Romans
🌿They can live more than 300 years and grow up to 120 feet tall.
🌿Cedar trees were used in many different ancient cultures.  The Egyptians used the oil in embalming, and the wood was used in the Middle East to build ships, furniture, and buildings.  These trees were also an important ceremonial plant in Native American culture.

Uses:
►Combine Cedarwood with Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Neroli, and Rosemary to diffuse.
►Moisture your hair with a blend of coconut oil or argan oil and 5-6 drops of Cedarwood.  Massage into scalp.  Leave in hair for 30-60 minutes before washing and rinsing hair.
►Smooth skin’s appearance by adding a few drops of Cedarwood to your favourite lotions.
►Rub 1-2 drops of Cedarwood into your hands and smooth it into clean, dry hair to maintain a shiny appearance.
►Add 3-4 drops of Cedarwood to a dry brush and scrub dry spots before bathing.
►Use woodsy, sweet Cedarwood as a base note in DIY perfumes.

DIY with Cedarwood

Make Dry Shampoo with Cedarwood!

Did you know that you can use your cedarwood essential oil as an ingredient for dry shampoo?

#YLDIY Essential Oil-Infused Dry Shampoo Ingredients

¼ cup cornstarch/arrowroot powder 
1 tablespoon baking soda
2 drops Cedarwood essential oil
2 drops Rosemary essential oil
1 drop Tea Tree essential oil
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, for dark hair only

Directions:
- Combine all ingredients.
- Put in a container of your choice, such as an empty salt shaker or baby powder bottle.
- Sprinkle on roots of hair and massage into scalp.
- Leave for 2–3 minutes to absorb hair’s natural oils.
- Brush through hair.
